Something Like

Something Like provides spaces for growth, development and collaboration of local creative communities. Using workshops, performances, and networking events, Something Like promotes unity in the local creative community. 

An Open Mic

A themed open mic, meant to provide practice for performers.
An opportunity to network with other local artists.

A Cypher Bars

An open cypher using predominantly instrumentals from local producers.
An open deck session for DJs to create instrumentals. An opportunity for producers to showcase their beats.


A Writing Camp

Defined: Artists use prompts to write verses/ new song. Producers provide instrumentals based on vibes/genres. Artists perform their new creations and will have them recorded, to be completed at a later date.

Purpose: Collaboration with local artists and producers. Challenge artists to create something out of their box and or work with artists in various genres.


A Townhall

Defined: An opportunity to speak about common hurdles and roadblocks local creatives face. An open dialogue with the local creative community in all fields including venue owners/managers, DJs, event planners/coordinators, journalists, photo/videographers. 

Purpose: Networking with local creatives. Problem diagnostic/solving. Find common ground and build the local creative community.


A DJ Pool

Defined: A live listening session for local DJs to find new music and meet new artists in their community. A meeting ground where artists can learn more about how their music is enjoyed and where a DJ would play their music.

Purpose: Connecting local DJs with local artists. Defining where an artist’s music is best heard. Provide examples of how a DJ may mix a local artist’s song with a known song

A Content Day

Defined: An opportunity for those in need of content to batch create content for upcoming, and current projects. With the difficulties that come with creating the product, this provides ease in creating the content for promotion.

Purpose: Connecting local photographers and videographers with local artists, brands, creatives etc. To batch create content in a short timespan allowing promotion for next few weeks or months.


The Apollo 

Defined: A performance workshop, where an artist will have their performance critiqued in order to improve and enhance their performance. An opportunity to try new songs, and performance techniques. 

Purpose: Opportunity to improve your performances. To give and receive honest feedback. To practice/ try new songs to gain insight on how it may be performed
